What Shotara collects, why it needs it and what you can do about it.
Who runs Shotara
Shotara is a product operated by Mandarin Monkey Ltd, company number 13845755, registered in England and Wales. Registered office: 20 Elm Park Drive, Finchampstead, RG40 4RW. Mandarin Monkey Ltd is the controller for account, billing, product usage and marketing data.
Contact: hello@shotara.io.
Information we collect
We collect account details such as your name, email address, login and notification preferences. We store the ideas, hooks, scripts, shot lists, images, links, comments and workspace activity that you choose to add.
When you pay, Stripe handles card details. Shotara receives subscription status, customer and subscription identifiers, plan and renewal information. We also process basic technical and security information needed to run, protect and troubleshoot the service.
How we use it
We use account and content data to provide Shotara, keep workspaces private, support collaboration, send requested notifications, process subscriptions, prevent abuse and improve reliability.
Our usual lawful bases are performance of our contract, legitimate interests in operating and securing the product, legal obligations, and consent for optional marketing.
Google Drive connection
Connecting Google Drive is optional. If you connect it, Shotara requests the Google Drive drive.file permission. This lets Shotara create project folders, upload production files and manage only the files and folders created by, or specifically opened with, Shotara. Shotara does not request access to every file in your Drive.
We use this access only when you ask Shotara to create a production bundle, upload footage or deliver files to an editor. Shotara stores the resulting Drive file and folder identifiers and links in your workspace. The production files remain in your Google Drive. OAuth credentials are handled by Base44's connector infrastructure so the connection can continue working.
Shotara shares a Drive folder with an invited editor only when you choose that action. We do not use Google user data for advertising, sell it, or use it to train general artificial-intelligence models. Shotara's use and transfer of information received from Google APIs complies with the Google API Services User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements.
You can disconnect Google Drive from your Shotara profile and revoke Shotara's access from your Google Account. Disconnecting stops future access. Deleting your Shotara account removes stored Drive references from Shotara, but does not delete files already stored in your own Google Drive.
Who receives it
We use service providers including Base44 for application infrastructure, connector handling and storage, Stripe for billing, Google Drive when you connect it, and Google Workspace for business email. Other services linked by users process data under their own terms.
Workspace owners control collaborator access. Editors can see ideas assigned to them. Team members / Producers can see content and activity across the full workspace. A collaborator can receive access to a connected Drive folder only when the workspace owner grants it. We do not sell personal information.
International transfers
Shotara is available worldwide and its providers may process information outside the UK. Where required, we rely on recognised safeguards such as adequacy regulations or approved contractual protections.
How long we keep it
Account and workspace data is kept while your account is active. A completed account deletion removes Shotara account data and cancels an active subscription. Limited records may be retained where needed for tax, fraud prevention, dispute handling or another legal obligation.
Backups and provider logs may take a limited period to expire from protected systems.
Your choices and rights
You can export your Shotara data and delete your account from Profile. Depending on where you live, you may also have rights to access, correct, restrict, object to, erase or receive a copy of personal information.
Email hello@shotara.io to exercise a right or ask a privacy question. UK users can also complain to the Information Commissioner’s Office.
Age
Shotara is not intended for children under 16. A user aged 16 or 17 may use the free product, but a paid subscription must be purchased or approved by a parent or legal guardian.
Changes
We may update this notice as the product or its providers change. Material changes will be shown in the app or sent by email where appropriate.
